Day 2 - At Sea

< >

Exploring the Britannia
Your first day at sea is all about exploring the ship and settling in. Typically, the Limitless Team meets with everyone in the morning to catch up over breakfast, make sure you had a comfortable night, discuss the day ahead, and plan activities. We often lunch and dine as a group as well, so you’re never short of company.

During days at sea, there’s plenty to see and do on the Britannia. As a group, Limitless travellers often enjoy a relaxed morning, followed by a group lunch and some afternoon fun - be it a theatre show or a movie. Then it’s time to get dressed up for a delicious dinner, followed by some fantastic evening entertainment. Of course, how you spend your day is entirely up to you! But it’s good to know that the Limitless Team and your fellow travellers are always around too.

Day 3 - Haugesund, Norway

< >

Port Visit
Welcome to Haugesund - home of the Vikings. Though the town itself is relatively young, the local area was a hotbed of Viking activity, and the first king of Norway, Harald Fairhair, lived just 8 km from the modern settlement. After disembarking the Iona, we typically catch the accessible bus into the city centre to maximize your time there.

Known as the birthplace of modern Norway, Haugesund is a brilliant place to do some holiday shopping and its excellent restaurants ensure this stop is one for the foodies too. There’s also an accessible Hop-On, Hop-Off bus that takes you around all of the city’s main attractions. Finally, we would highly recommend visiting the fascinating Viking Planet museum to learn more about the area’s incredible history.

Nordfjordeid
Nordfjordeid

Day 4 - Nordfjordeid, Norway

< >

Port Visit
Located at the head of one of the country’s most spectacular fjords, Nordfjordeid is a small, charming and perfectly formed town that combines sensational natural surroundings with more than a few sites of cultural and historical interest. The traditional architecture gives the town an authentic feel and is a big part of its appeal, too.

The Sagastad Viking Heritage Centre is an essential visit for history fans, as it houses a 30-metre, walk-aboard replica of the Myklebust, one of the largest Viking ships ever discovered. The modern opera house and the 19th-century Eid Church are architecturally fascinating and impressive local landmarks, too. The day ends with the ship returning back down the awe-inspiring Nordfjord, following its beautiful scenery and placid waters out to sea.

Alesund

Day 5 - Ålesund, Norway

< >

Port Visit
Famous for its unique architecture, Ålesund is the cultural centre of the Sunnmøre region and a relaxed and wonderfully atmospheric town. Having burned down in 1904, the entire town was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style, making it one of the most distinctive port stops on your holiday. The approach to the port includes a scenic journey through the picturesque Geirangerfjord, and the town centre is just 10 minutes from the dock. We often take a short walk around the prettiest areas before stopping for lunch and a spot of shopping.

The accessible Hop-On, Hop-Off bus is an excellent option if you want to see more of the town. However, we recommend talking with the Tour Manager to arrange this as early as possible. Both the Art Nouveau Centre and the open-air Sunnmøre Museum are also accessible. The former presents exhibits detailing Art Nouveau’s impact on visual art, applied art, design and architecture. The latter tells the story of the region’s traditional way of life and includes historic homes and replicas of ships and smaller boats from the Viking Age.

Stavanger

Day 6 - Stavanger, Norway

< >

Port Visit
Land ahoy! Once a Viking stronghold, Stavanger is famed for the beautiful wooden homes that line the streets of the historic city centre. The port is a flat, 10-minute walk from the city centre and there are plenty of local restaurants and bars close by, making it a great opportunity to sample deliciously authentic Norwegian cuisine.

The city market is the place to pick up mementoes, while the imposing Stavanger Cathedral is Norway’s oldest, and the picturesque Blue Promenade is fantastic for a post-lunch stroll or roll. For a full tour of Stavanger’s main attractions, we recommend the excellent, wheelchair-accessible Hop-On, Hop-Off bus tour, which stops at the port. The service can get busy, so speak to a Limitless team member in advance to secure your ticket.

Sailing Home
By now, you will have spent a few days exploring the Britannia and enjoying the facilities, activities and entertainment. But we guarantee there are still things you’re yet to see, do or find. Have you checked out the onboard art gallery? Eaten at all the restaurants? Taken part in the ever-popular interactive quiz show?

As we make our way back to Southampton, this is a great opportunity to check out those parts of the ship you’re yet to see or return to your favourite spots. Have a chat with your Tour Manager in the morning and organise the perfect day.

How does Limitless assist with check in and boarding?

Having met the Limitless Team at the port, we'll accompany you to the special assistance check-in. As it's separate from regular check-in, there are no crowds or lengthy queues.

You'll then be given a boarding time. Usually, we board as a group. However, if this isn't possible and you would like the assistance, we ensure a carer accompanies you onto the ship.

We board via the accessible gangway. This ramp connects the ship to the port. If you require support or assistance, both the Limitless Team and the ship's crew will be on hand to help. There are also manual wheelchairs available to make this transfer easier.

On some ships, the accessible gangway can be a little steep. In these instances, two crew members will provide support - one in front and one behind. You'll never be rushed and your safety and comfort are always the priorities.

Remember, you don't need to pre-book any special assistance at the port! We provide this assistance as standard with all Limitless cruises.

What is Limitless Group Support & Holiday Assistance?

Group Support & Holiday Assistance is included as standard with all Limitless holidays. It's what sets us apart from every other UK holiday provider!

This level of support is suitable for those who do not require physical support, but may need a helping hand to make the most of their holiday experience. We provide this assistance in a group setting, so you must be able to support yourself if you intend to leave the group at any point.

What can Limitless do if I require additional care and support?

At Limitless, we offer a range of additional care packages if your require a little more assistance. This allows us to tailor care to individual Limitless travellers and ensure your needs are met while on holiday.

They range from our Morning, Evening & Occasional Daytime Care package for travellers who require intermittent assistance with personal care to our One-to-One Care With Hoisting package for travellers who would benefit from comprehensive, all-day care.

We always recommend getting touch with your Personal Travel Advisor to discuss care packages. They are always on hand to answer questions, provide information, and make recommendations about the package they think is most suitable for you. You can contact Limitless on 0800 711 7112.

In addition to this, our care team will also reach out to you three months before your holiday to confirm you have everything you need to travel with complete confidence.

What are anchor ports and is Limitless responsible for port changes?

At Limitless Travel, we carefully select cruise itineraries with minimal anchor ports. Anchor ports are those destinations where port logistics mean a small boat or ‘tender’ transport is required to ferry guests to shore. In the vast majority of cases, these tenders are not accessible and some Limitless Travellers will not be able to leave the ship.

Unfortunately, port changes can happen due to any number of reasons while at sea. Limitless Travel cannot be held accountable for any such port changes.

Which side of the ship is best for fjords?

On our Norwegian fjord cruises, both sides of the ship typically guarantee spectacular views of the fjords. However, selecting the “best” side of the ship often depends on the itinerary specifics.

Generally, the starboard (right-hand) side might be slightly better if you’re cruising north and the port (left-hand) side if you’re heading south. In both instances, this is because that side of the ship will spend more time facing the coastline.

Modern cruise ships are designed to maximize visibility and the open decks and public viewing areas guarantee everyone has access to striking 360-degree vistas. On Limitless Norwegian Fjords Cruises, there are always plenty of opportunities to use these facilities.

Is the sea rough in the Norwegian fjords?

The waters in the Norwegian fjords are generally much calmer than the open sea, thanks to the fjords' narrow and sheltered characteristics. This makes Norwegian fjord cruises an excellent choice for those concerned about sea sickness.

The cruise ship will be out on the open sea when travelling to, from and between fjords. Here, rougher seas are possible but entirely dependent on the weather, conditions, and season. Modern cruise ships are well-equipped with stabilisers to counteract rougher seas and minimise the motion you feel, ensuring a comfortable onboard experience.
