Breathtaking biodiversity, cloud-covered rainforest canopies and idyllic sandy beaches, all squeezed between sun-drenched Pacific and Caribbean coasts - discover the wonders of Central America's top holiday destination with our disabled friendly Costa Rica tour.
Holiday Overview
From the heart of the country, where forested peaks pierce low-slung clouds, to the turquoise waters of the tropical coasts, Costa Rica is rich in dramatic, natural beauty. A relatively small country that never measures more than 200 miles across, it boasts remarkably diverse wildlife and more picture-perfect landscapes than your camera could ever hope to capture.
On your accessible Costa Rica holiday, you'll explore much of what the country has to offer, staying in fully accessible hotels in the capital, Arenal Volcano Park and on the north Pacific coast. All transfers between hotels and any journeys for excursions utilise disabled friendly transportation and the Limitless Team will accompany you wherever you go.
The trip starts in the Costa Rican capital, San José. Situated in the centre of the country, it's the perfect place to acclimatise and get your first taste of the local culture. While in the capital, you'll also have the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the city, travel out to a coffee plantation and visit one of Costa Rica's most highly regarded museums.
From there, you'll travel to Arenal, where Costa Rica's imposing volcanic landscapes reveal themselves. Here, there's the chance to take a dip in the hotel's accessible hot spring pools, go jaguar-spotting on an accessible wildlife tour and fly through the air on an adapted zip-line. The next three days will see us pitch-up on the Pacific coast, where you can make the most of the accessible beaches and amphibian wheelchairs to top up your tan and then cool off with a refreshing dip. In between all this, there'll be cookery classes, visits to quaint countryside villages and plenty of time to relax and unwind.
Your accessible Costa Rica hotels have been hand-picked by the Limitless Team for their superb locations and excellent disabled facilities. A Limitless Travel representative will accompany the tour group throughout the holiday, providing assistance whenever required and ensuring you receive the support you need.

Day 2 - San José City & Coffee Tour
<>
Now that you’re settled and rested, it’s time for the first excursion of the holiday. Today, we’ll be heading to a coffee plantation to discover exactly what goes into producing a cup of the good stuff! You’ll learn about the history of coffee in Costa Rica and how it’s grown, harvested and processed, then you’ll sample a strong brew made using some of the freshest beans on the planet.
After your coffee adventure, we’ll stop for lunch at a vibrant market in central San José. The urban heart of the country, the capital is a dense web of bustling streets and markedly different from the laid back countryside that exists just beyond the city limits. We’ll spend the afternoon on a private guided tour of San José, visiting one of the country’s most important museums along the way.
Day 3 - Ox-Cart Artwork Tour & Natural Hot Spring Experience
On Day Three, we’ll be leaving our first hotel and heading to the province of Alajuela. More specifically, we’re going to Arenal - the site of an active stratovolcano (think big, conical peak and a summit crater). On the way, we’ll stop at Sarchi, a quaint town known across Costa Rica for its artisans’ elaborately painted ox carts. As well as looking around the spectacular carts, you’ll also be able to pick up some beautiful souvenirs and artworks. Then it’s time to settle into your new accommodation, which is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and boasts an impressive range of accessible facilities. Relax by the hotel’s accessible hot spring pools. Fed by geothermal flows that are warmed by the Arenal volcano, these thermal waters are sure to leave you feeling revitalised and ready for a satisfying dinner with your Limitless travel companions.
Day 4 - Guided walk in the Rainforest & Cooking Class
<>
Arenal Volcano National Park is a protected area in northern Costa Rica that’s famed for its hot springs, active volcano and biodiverse ecosystems, which are teeming with exotic wildlife, including jaguars and tree frogs.
This is Costa Rica’s wild side at its best, with all the country’s breathtaking natural beauty on show. In the park, you’ll be guided along a fully accessible trail, passing spectacular lava flows, lush forest fields, raucous howler monkeys and multicoloured parrots as you go. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a Costa Rican cookery class, explore the region’s culinary culture and even prepare an evening meal to share with your fellow travellers.
Following a hearty breakfast, you’ll spread your wings and fly through the forest canopy on a fully accessible zip-line experience. After this adrenaline fuelled experience, we'll make our way to Guanacaste and check into your next hotel which is by the beach.
Today is a fantastic opportunity to make the most of the hotel facilities and explore the surrounding area at your own pace. Whether you get stuck into your holiday read while lounging by the pool, wander down to the beach to sit beneath the palm trees or go for a dip in the ocean, you’re sure to love the laid back Costa Rican coast.
Day 7 - Accessible Costa Rican Beach
<>
On Day Eight of your holiday, you can sit back, take it easy and enjoy the fantastic Central American climate on an accessible local beach. Amphibious wheelchairs are available, making entering and exiting the water far more convenient and comfortable. Go for a paddle, soak up the sun and enjoy postcard-perfect surroundings during this supremely relaxing beach day.
Today we will visit a local city Liberia, know as the white city as many of its buildings were painted white. Founded in 1769, Liberia has a fascinating history rooted in its role as a key centre for the export of cattle and hides. It played a crucial role in Central American politics, being a hub for discussions and negotiations during times of regional conflict. The city's colonial past, marked by Spanish influence, is evident in its architectural heritage and urban layout, reflecting a captivating journey through time for history enthusiasts. There will be chance to explore and do some souvenir shopping.
Today, you're heading back to San José after checking out of your Guanacaste hotel. There’ll be the chance to grab lunch from one of the city’s many cafés, explore the streets and bask in the glorious Costa Rican sun before we enjoy a delightfully authentic local meal in an accessible restaurant. This is a night to enjoy the company of your fellow travellers, reminisce over your holiday experiences and make the most of your final moments in Central America!
Today we will say good bye to Costa Rica, and this wonderful holiday full of memories. We will make our way back to the airport and journey home.
