Holiday Overview

Surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and boasting year-round sun and a wonderfully temperate climate, Madeira is a truly special place. Often voted the world's greatest island destination, the island's volcanic origins mean it benefits from a unique and overwhelmingly beautiful natural geology. A combination of white and black-sand beaches ring the coast, while jagged peaks and narrow canyons rise and fall in the island's wild interior. Waterfalls tumble over sheer cliff faces and verdant forests line the lower hillsides, giving Madeira a spectacular subtropical feel.

On your accessible Madeira holiday, we'll show you the best of the island's culture, cuisine and natural splendour, ensuring you enjoy an unforgettable stay. Of course, there will be plenty of time to relax and unwind beneath the Madeiran sun, too.

Your first day on the island will be given over to relaxing at the hotel, visiting the local town for a spot of shopping and tucking into a traditional Madeiran meal in an excellent local restaurant. Later in the holiday, you'll visit the Cabo Girão viewing platform for breathtaking views of the entire island and tour stunning São Vicente with its white-washed homes and luscious tropical surroundings. We'll also be spending the day on an accessible beach, where you can enjoy a dip in the sea and top up that tan.

Your accessible Madeira hotel has been hand-picked by the Limitless Team for its superb location and excellent disabled facilities. A Limitless Travel representative will accompany the tour group throughout the holiday, providing assistance whenever required and ensuring you receive the support you need.

Today, we’ll visit one of Madeira’s most iconic beauty spots, Cabo Girão. Boasting a spectacular accessible viewing platform that’s perched atop a rugged cliff, it offers unbeatable views of the coast, island and ocean. Afterwards, we’ll head to a nearby café that’s renowned for its delicious Madeiran stew. It would be a shame not to follow up such a fantastic meal with wonderfully light and spongy Madeira cake, so we’ll make sure they’ve got a slice in just for you.

Day 4 - Accessible Beach Day

< >
On Day Four of your disabled friendly Madeira holiday, we’re heading to a nearby accessible beach to soak up the sun, top up those tans and relax and unwind. There are beach wheelchairs available for anyone who fancies taking a refreshing swim in the sea, as well several beachfront cafés that serve up a tasty lunch and ice-cold beverages. The beach also features an accessible swimming pool for those who want to cool off but don’t fancy a saltwater dip.

Day 5 - Funchal and Cable Car

< >
Today we\'ll head over to the lower part of Madeira to Funchal, and take a breathtaking accessible cable car over where you can see the whole island views. We will also enjoy a potter around this Portuguese town, and stop for a traditional Portuguese lunch. Today, we’ll visit the south of the island and the Madeiran capital, Funchal. There, we’ll board an accessible cable car and rise high above the city for sensational views of the surrounding area. We’ll then spend the rest of the day exploring the streets, browsing the markets and taking a look at Zona Velha, the old fisherman’s quarter that’s been recently renovated. Of course, we’ll also stop for a traditional Portuguese lunch along the way.

Day 6 - Excursion to São Vicente

< >
On your second-to-last day on the island, we\'ll explore stunning São Vicente. One of the most scenic and picturesque towns on the island, its white-washed buildings and dramatic backdrop make it a must-visit.
