Discover Spectacular Sicily

Situated at the heart of the Mediterranean, Sicily was the strategic centre of European trade, politics and history for millennia. Today, ancient Greek temples stand alongside Roman palazzos, Byzantine mosaics and Baroque cathedrals. But it’s Sicily’s natural beauty that shines above all else. Brooding Mt Etna looms over the entire island, while staggeringly beautiful beaches line the coast, and the rugged, mountainous interior protects quiet cliff-top villages and breathtaking vistas.

Your 10-Day Accessible Itinerary

You'll stay in a four-star accessible hotel near Modica, hand-picked by the Limitless team for its excellent facilities, peaceful atmosphere, and convenient location, just a short drive from the local town and the wheelchair-accessible beach at Pozzalo. During your holiday, you’ll explore the Baroque beauty of Val di Noto’s UNESCO-designated hill towns, visiting Ragusa, Noto, Modica and Scicli. A guided tour of the ancient city of Syracuse offers a fascinating insight into the island’s unique blend of Greek and Roman influences, while a bus tour of majestic Mt Etna will introduce you to Sicily’s most iconic landmark. Day 1 Travel to Sicily
Kikki Village accommodation in Sicily

After meeting the Limitless Team at the airport special assistance desk, we’ll make our way through security and head for our boarding gate together. We recommend booking special assistance with the airport before flying if required, but the Limitless team will also be on hand to provide additional support as we check in and board the plane. We're there to ensure the airport experience is as easy as possible, advocate on your behalf, and give you the confidence to fly, so we'll be by your side throughout the journey.

On arrival at our destination, the Limitless Team will help you through the airport and onto the awaiting accessible transfer vehicle. From there, it’s on to your excellent disabled-friendly hotel, where we’ll check in, get you settled and comfortable in your room, and enjoy a delicious evening meal with your fellow guests.

Day 2 Pozzallo Accessible Beach
Customers in Sicily

On your first full day in Sicily, we’ll take the morning to relax and enjoy the wonderful hotel facilities and accessible pool. After an authentic Sicilian lunch, we’ll make our way to Pozzallo, a bustling port town on the island’s southern tip. Famed for its Blue Flag beaches, the town’s proximity to Malta means it has been an important and influential harbour for much of Sicily’s history.

We’ll spend the afternoon on Pozzallo’s fantastic wheelchair-friendly beach, which is equipped with walkways to the shoreline, amphibious chairs and dedicated disabled bathrooms. As the sun goes down on a relaxed, sun-soaked afternoon at one of Sicily’s finest beaches, we’ll make our way to the promenade to stroll past the shops and gelato stands and find a beachfront restaurant from which to watch the sunset.

Day 3 Exploring Ancient Syracuse
Customers visiting Pozzallo in Sicily

Regarded as the most beautiful city in Sicily, if not all of Italy, Syracuse’s honey-stone streets are simply breathtaking. Which is only fitting for one of the Mediterranean’s most historic cities. From ancient ruins and ornate Baroque piazzas to its vibrant outdoor markets and alfresco cafes and restaurants, Syracuse is a joy to explore.

Following a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, we’ll board our accessible transport and drive the hour to Syracuse. There, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the fascinating Neapolis Archaeological Park and several of the island’s most famous ancient Greek and Roman remains, including the iconic theatres. From there, we’ll head to the historic heart of Syracuse for a guided tour of the island of Ortiga and experience the spectacular Duomo, one of Europe’s finest architectural feats.

Day 4 Ragusa Ibla & Olive Mill Tour
Scenic view of a promenade in Syracuse (Ortigya), Sicily, Italy. Picturesque coastline in the famous Sicilian town

The first of four excursions to the UNESCO-designated towns of Val di Noto, today sees you travel to Ragusa Ibla. On the way, we’ll stop at a local olive oil mill for a guided tour of production facilities and a tasting experience. It’s a fantastic opportunity to sample some of the mouthwatering local produce.

From there, it’s on to beautiful Ragusa. Perched atop a hill and cascading down its slopes, the town offers breathtaking views along the valley and is rich with history and phenomenal architecture. Its slow pace, dreamy atmosphere and car-free centre ensure a visit to Ragusa feels like a trip back in time, and it’s a wonderful place to explore, enjoy a cooling gelato and browse the local artisan shops. Accompanied by the Limitless Team, you’ll also benefit from our accessibility experience and expertise, helping you navigate what can be a hilly town.

Day 5 The Golden Streets of Noto
Customers enjoying a cooking class in Sicily

Rebuilt after the devastating earthquake of 1693, Noto is the Baroque jewel in the southern Sicilian crown. With its limestone buildings and golden-honey hue, it’s an architectural marvel and a fantastic example of ingenious city planning. Following the earthquake, the city’s designers opted for an entirely new layout, splitting the centre into three equal parts divided by east-to-west roads, ensuring they captured the sun throughout the day. It means Noto is a city of light and makes for one of the most spectacular sunsets on the island.

During your time in Noto, you’ll benefit from a guided tour of the city, so you can experience the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the verdant public gardens and the Cathedral of San Nicolò in all their glory. If you want to cool off with an ice-cold refreshment, head to Caffé Sicilia, which was recently voted the best bar in Italy and is famed for its granitas - drinks made from flavoured crushed ice.

Day 6 Magnificent Mt Etna
Customers with Limitless staff in front of Mount Etna in Sicily

Towering above the entire island, Mt Etna defines Sicily and is, by far and away, its most iconic landmark. As the tallest and most active volcano in Europe, it is both a creative and destructive force – responsible for the fertile soils in which Sicily’s famously fresh crops flourish and for frightening demonstrations of natural power. As you would expect, it is also the subject of numerous ancient myths.

Today, we’ll explore the legends, history and beauty of this spectacular volcano with a guided bus tour of its slopes. On our way, we’ll stop off at a local vineyard for a tour and a chance to sample the region’s local products and specialities. Then it’s on to Etna itself, one of the continent’s most awe-inspiring natural environments. As the bus climbs up to Piano Provenzana on the volcano’s north side, you’ll enjoy onboard commentary from an experienced guide and experience Etna up close and personal. With unbelievable views and stunning landscapes, your Mt Etna adventure will live long in the memory.

Day 7 Mesmerising Modica

Lisbo

Today, we’ll board the accessible transport and make our way to the ancient city of Modica. Tucked away in the south of the island, Modica is one of eight UNESCO World Heritage towns in eastern Sicily and is renowned for its churches and chocolate. On the way, we’ll enjoy a guided visit to a traditional farmhouse and taste a range of local delicacies.

A filming location for the incredibly popular Inspector Montalbano TV series, Modica boasts beautiful medieval architecture aplenty and historic streets that wind their way up the valley sides. At its heart is the Corso Umberto – the flat, accessible main street lined with boutiques, cafes and churches. On your guided visit, we will stick to the town’s accessible centre as we explore its fascinating history, architectural heritage and culinary culture.

Day 8 Spectacular Scicli
Customers exploring the ancient city of Modica in Sicily

Situated in a limestone gorge in the island’s southeastern corner, Scicli is a UNESCO-listed town famed for its golden stone and Baroque architecture. Considered one of Sicily’s most beautiful towns, it’s home to ornate 18th-century palazzi, historic churches and plenty of excellent Sicilian cafes. It’s also a fantastic location for Inspector Montalbano fans, as the town hall was used as the famous detective’s police headquarters.

On arriving in Scicli, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the town, helping you explore all its accessible highlights. Whether you want to relax and soak up the laidback, artsy atmosphere with a cappuccino or marvel at the breathtaking religious art on display in the church of San Bartolomeo, Scicli is a magical destination. We’ll also stay in town for an evening dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants. While not included in the price of your holiday, the hotel staff can recommend a restaurant to you and reserve your table in advance.

Day 9 Sicilian Cookery Class
Limitless staff taking a selfie with a customer in Sicily

This morning, you’ll be visited by one of the island’s master chefs who will lead a mouthwatering Sicilian cookery class at the hotel. Covering all you need to know to prepare an authentic local meal, you’ll pick up plenty of tips, tricks and traditional dishes to impress friends and family back home.

On an island renowned for its incredible food, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn about a unique regional cuisine and cook with famously fresh Sicilian ingredients. If you’re a big foodie, make sure you sample the island’s street food while out and about on excursions, too. Sicily is famous for its arancini (delicious deep-fried risotto balls) and panelle (chickpea fritters). Both make for a sensational on-the-go snack. In the afternoon, we’ll take it easy, relax by the pool and enjoy the unbeatable Mediterranean sun.

Day 10 Airport Transfer & Flight Home
Customers in Sicily

Today, your accessible holiday comes to an end. After breakfast, the Limitless Team will help you transfer to the airport. We’ll be on hand to help you through the airport, while you’re boarding the plane and during your flight. Flights FAQs

Are flights included in the cost of a Limitless short-haul holiday?

No, flights are not included in the cost of your Limitless short-haul holiday. However, we do provide extensive booking support, and your Limitless Personal Travel Advisor is always available to provide information and assist with any matter relating to travel and flights.

How do I book flights for Limitless holidays?

Having booked your Limitless short-haul holiday, we’ll send out flight details approximately three months before the departure date. You are then responsible for booking flights, though assistance and support are always available from your Personal Travel Advisor. You can choose to fly on a different flight to the Limitless Team and your fellow Limitless Travellers, but we will not be able to provide support at the airport or during the flight in this case. We will still arrange an accessible transfer to the hotel for you if you fly independently.

What airports do Limitless fly from and how do I get there?

For short-haul holidays, we aim to have two flight teams – one flying from a London airport and the other flying from an airport further north, typically Birmingham or Manchester. This gives Limitless Travellers greater choice and reduces travel time to and from the airport. The specific airports we use depend on destination, cost, flight availability and departure time. Where possible, we opt for a mid-day flight for your convenience.

Does Limitless liaise with the airport to organise special assistance?

Limitless Travellers are responsible for contacting and organising the special assistance team at the airport. The airport’s special assistance team will help you with check-in, security and boarding, and we recommend using their services if possible. Though the special assistance team will manage most of your airport experience, the Limitless Team will also be on hand to accompany you, provide support and advocate on your behalf.

How do the Limitless Team provide support at the airport and while flying?

The Limitless Team will usually meet you at the airport's special assistance desk, collect and handle luggage, and provide any support necessary. If required, we can schedule regular check-ins during the flight. Our team is highly experienced and regularly accompanies Limitless Travellers on international flights. As such, we're able to make sure your journey is smooth and comfortable, and you feel confident travelling. For Limitless short-haul holidays, we guarantee we'll be there to help whenever you need us.

If you opt for the One-to-One Care package, your carer will meet you at the designated airport and provide dedicated support throughout the airport, flight, transfer and holiday.

How do we transfer from the destination airport to the hotel?

We've arranged accessible transport for the drive from your destination airport to the hotel, so you don't have to worry about transfers at all. We use transfer vehicles that have been vetted to ensure accessibility and are equipped with a ramp or hydraulic lift.
